The article examines the development of sport climbing in Kazakhstan during the period of independence. The stages
of formation of this sport are considered, starting from the Soviet era and up to the present day. Analysis of successful performances of
Kazakhstani athletes in the international arena, including participation in competitions of the International Federation of Sport Climbing
(IFSC), allowed to identify the main problems and development trends, including crisis phenomena, manifested in a decrease in results
in international tournaments. An analysis of the management structure of sport climbing in Kazakhstan was conducted, shortcomings in
the system of training athletes, a weak infrastructure base and the absence of a single national federation were noted. Particular attention
is paid to the specialization of Kazakhstani climbers in speed climbing, which limits competitiveness in other disciplines. A graph of
the dynamics of international achievements of Kazakhstani athletes is presented, demonstrating a decrease in performance after 2017.
In conclusion, measures are proposed to develop sport climbing in Kazakhstan, including improving methodological training, modernizing
infrastructure and developing youth sports.
